• Function

1.Power Transmission: The final drive is responsible for transmitting power from the engine to the tracks or wheels. It serves as a link between the transmission and the driving wheels or tracks, receiving the power output from the transmission and delivering it to the wheels or tracks to enable the machine to move.

2.Speed Reduction and Torque Increase: The final drive contains a set of gears, usually a planetary gear system. Through the meshing of these gears, it further reduces the rotational speed generated by the engine while increasing the torque. This is essential because the wheels or tracks require a lower rotational speed and higher torque to move the heavy construction equipment forward or backward, and to perform various operations in different terrains.

3.Direction Control: In some cases, the final drive can also assist in controlling the direction of the machine. For example, in tracked equipment, by adjusting the speed of the two final drives on the left and right sides, the machine can turn. When the final drive on one side runs faster than the other, the machine will turn towards the slower - moving side.
